Breeding Guide
If you're interested in breeding your Storkverse characters, you've come to the right place! This guide will cover all you need to know to set up a breeding successfully.
Characters obtained from breedings will have special IDs! They will be numbered as MNBX-X, where the Xs are the kittens' ID number. The result looks like this: MNB#108. When keeping track of your characters' IDs, please make sure to include the MNB!

Finding a Pair
Step one of any breeding is, of course, finding which two characters you'd like to breed! These can be designs you own, or by someone else who has voluntarily offered them for a breeding. They may require splitting the litter or a small fee in return for use of their character.
Once you have characters picked out, make sure they're eligible to breed! All Storverse characters must be 2 weeks old to breed. This count starts as soon as you post their trackers.
Some community members may choose to "stud" their designs. This means that in return for a fee, they will allow you to borrow their character for a breeding. This studding fee will vary between the community members and characters involved. Due to the random aspects of breeding, we discourage high studding fees.

Non-Storkverse Cross-species Breeding
Storkverse allows the use of other Kiwipen created and owned species in breedings!
To be able to use a character from another species in a Storkverse breeding, you first must make sure they're compatible. If it's a species created and owned by Kiwipen, it will probably work!
If it's a species created and owned by someone else, however, that character may not be used in a Storkverse breeding.
There is one more bit of work you need to do before proceeding with the breeding as normal - writing a Storkverse trait list for a design that's not one of the Storkverse species! The trait rarities used must match the Storkverse parent's species - this means that if you're breeding with a Storkat, Storkie rarities need to be utilized.
Making a trait list can be difficult, so if you would like your trait list verified or need a hand writing it, please open a customer service ticket in our Discord.
Valid Species for cross-species breedings are:
Cuties, Cherub Cats, Digibuns, Everhearts, Kibala, Kotopips, Nyas, Pixel Pals*, Rawrs, Starshines, Tallhearts, Kategorians
*Pals may participate in breedings, but may not pass any traits

Filling Out a Form
You can find the breeding form in this post. This should be filled out completely, using the information found in your characters' trackers. If you're not sure about what traits a character is able to pass, don't be afraid to ask!
If both parents share a passable trait, please make sure to bold it! This makes it easy for the staff members rolling your breeding to see which traits will pass at an increased rate. If you forget to bold traits, then you may not receive the shared trait bonus.
If you're using a character with Hybrid Magic as a parent, please make sure to include both parent magic types on your form. If they are not listed, your form will be rejected. For convenience, one parent magic type is passed per-litter, and is randomly selected during rolling.

Using Items
There's multiple items that can be used to influence breedings! These can guarantee a specific amount of kits, a mutation, heterochromia or that rare magic types or traits are passed.
Breeding items must be purchased before you attempt to use them in a breeding. To use an item in a breeding, list it on your breeding form. If you're posting the form, but your partner is the one with the item, you are required to attach a screenshot with explicit permission to use the breeding item.
Once your breeding is accepted by an artist, make a post in the bank/archive update thread!

Finding an Artist
If you're wanting to do the breeding yourself with a DIY Nursery voucher, please consult this guide.
Once you have characters picked out, the next step is finding an artist! Not all artists will be willing to take on all breedings, and not every artist is always open for breedings! Please be respectful of artist boundaries.
Artists will announce open breeding slots on the main thread, nursery thread and in the Discord. Alongside the slot openings, they will include if the slots are a free or a paid breeding. These slots may be under whatever restrictions the artist wishes, and may be FCFS, raffled, or hand selected.
If you would like to request that artist takes your breeding, simply post a filled out breeding form!
After a while, the artist will announce which breedings they're accepting. If your form is accepted - the breeding process begins. If your form isn't accepted - don't worry! Your items will not be used, and you may wait for another artist to open breeding slots and repost your breeding form then.

Rolling
Once an artist has accepted your breeding, the next step is for traits to be rolled for. This process is handled by staff members, so you don't need to worry about it!
Here's a quick outline of how this works:
If you're interested in the exact process and everything that goes into it, feel free to check out our Rolling Guide! It's intended for staff use, but everyone is welcome to read it.
Here's a quick outline of how this works:
- Number of kits is rolled for. In a 1 participant breeding, number of kits can range from 1 to 4. In a 2 participant breeding, number of kits is either 2 or 4.
- Spontaneous Mutations are rolled for. You have a 1% chance of each of the follow occurring: Chimerism, Albinism, Natural Tail Variation, Height Edit, Heterochromia
- (Optional) Hybrid Magic is rolled for in compatible pairings. You have a 3% chance of Hybrid Magic occurring.
- Magic is rolled for. Please consult below for passing rates.
- Inheritable traits are rolled for. Limited traits pass at a 20% rate, and Legendary traits pass at a 5% rate.

Magic Pass Rates
Which type of magic is more likely to pass varies widely, depending on the rarity of the parents' magic types. If you're using a character with Hybrid Magic, one parent magic type will be randomly selected to pass per-litter.
